Kye Allums (1989- ) is an American trans man who is a former player for the George Washington University Women’s Basketball Team. His 2010 coming out as trans in college made him the first to do so in the history of the NCAA Division I athletics. He is a graduate of Centennial High School in Circle Pines, Minnesota. Allums went on to play three seasons as a guard for the George Washington Colonials. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in 2011 and is now an advocate for transgender rights. He produced a project called “I Am Enough”, encouraging LGBTQIA individuals to submit their life stories so that they might have agency. Allums also published a book with autobiographical poems and stories he wrote called “Who Am I?” In 2015, he was inducted into the National Gay and Lesbian Sports Hall of Fame.
